Our original appointment included the review of DNO quotations for various local authority sites that had been obtained by the client’s electrical contractor. These quotes were for the increase in load due to heat pumps being installed to decarbonise the sites and support the Net Zero goals of the local authority.
Our scope of works included for Utility Results to investigate the prices provided, estimated electric loads, and the proposed works to see if we could reduce anything unnecessary and lower the costs/timescales for the client.
The client provided us with their electrical loads, both existing and proposed new load for the site. UR then provided our own assessment using data from loggers on the existing units and reviewing the specifications for the new heat pumps being installed.
Following our analysis of the loads and the existing supply, UR worked with the DNO to utilise the existing supply as much as possible, then try to upgrade the existing supply at each site or in the cases where this was not possible, bring a new connection into site into an external kiosk for the new load only.
In total, by working with the client and the DNOs to minimise the amount of works required, Utility Results created a cost saving for the client of over £680k on this phase alone.
This has presented our value to the client and has since won us additional schemes.
